2014 Volkswagen GTI

The 2014 Volkswagen GTI is a high-performance version of the Golf hatchback. Only the 2014 Volkswagen GTI four-door version is offered this year, and there is seating for five people. There are two trim levels: Wolfsburg Edition and Driver Edition.



The standard equipment 2014 Volkswagen GTI Wolfsburg Edition includes alloy wheels 18 inches, a rear roof spoiler, fog lights, heated washer nozzles, heated outside mirrors, power accessories, a tilt and telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel control cruise, trip computer, air conditioning, heated front sport seats, checkered cloth upholstery, split folding rear seats with center passage through Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, and a sound system with eight speakers CD player, satellite radio, an auxiliary audio jack and iPod integration. Driver Edition adds adaptive xenon headlights, LED running lights, a sunroof, steering multifunction steering wheel, sports seats upholstered in leather and an audio interface with touch screen with a navigation system.



2014 Volkswagen GTI Interior



Among sporty hatchback, the 2014 Volkswagen GTI ranks at the top of interior quality. The front-wheel-drive 2014 Volkswagen GTI is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that produces 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque motor. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a manual six-speed dual clutch automatic (called DSG) is optional. The DSG works like an automatic transmission, but can manually scroll through the shift lever or shift paddles on the steering wheel.



In tests, 2014 Volkswagen GTI manual shift went from zero to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds, while a GTI with DSG covered the same ground in 6.4 seconds: a number of compact sports cars in this price range . The EPA rates the GTI at 25 combined mpg (21 mpg highway city / 31 mpg) with manual transmission and 27 mpg combined (24/32) when equipped with the DSG.



2014 Volkswagen GTI Safety



Standard safety equipment for the 2014 Volkswagen GTI includes antilock brakes, stability control and traction control, the side airbags in the front seats and full-length side curtain airbags.
