The Suzuki Wagon R is a Kei car produced by the Japanese manufacturer Suzuki since 1993. R in the name stands for Recreation. The Suzuki Wagon R is one of the first cars to use the “Shopping tall” or “tall boy” design, where the vehicle is designed to tall with a short bonnet and hatchback unusually almost vertical, and the sides to maximize cabin space while staying within the Kei car dimension restrictions.

The Suzuki Wagon R has been the best-selling Kei car Japan since 2003; and in 2008, Suzuki is expected to produce its three million-Wagon R. Commercial car for Suzuki and even the International market, especially from the present India car. Sales of Suzuki Wagon R have reached 5 million units by the end of February 2010.

Suzuki Wagon R First Generation (1993-1998)

First generation Suzuki Wagon R 1,640 millimeters (64.6 in) high, or 255 millimeters (10.0 in) long (170 mm (6.7 in)) than the jdm Suzuki Alto sold at the same time (which was exactly the same length of the well width). The R used the same 660 cc F6A three-cylinder engines as the Alto and other Suzuki Kei cars. Suzuki Wagon R Second Generation (1998-2003)

1998 saw the introduction of the second-generation Suzuki Wagon R in Japan, and the redesign of the Wagon R + and replacing it in 1999 – this was brought to Europe in 2000, and the major search engines. This and produced in Esztergom in Hungary by Magyar Suzuki and Gurgaon, India. The Opel Agila badge engineered version of the Suzuki Wagon R +, and was introduced in summer 2000.

Suzuki Wagon R Third Generation (2003-2008)

Third generation Suzuki Wagon R was launched in Japan in September 2003, the tenth Anniversary Wagon R, but now only as a 660 cc K6A Ned Kei car, no oversized version (like the last Wide and + versions) was developed. The third generation of the facelifted in September 2005 and replaced three years later.

Suzuki Wagon R Stingray

The Stingray, first seen in February 2007, was a sportier version of the third generation Suzuki Wagon R. aggressive front end treatment, the Stingray and found a clear taillights. Alloy wheels and Aero kit made and standard. 660cc engine was powered by a turbocharger, further improve the speed rush. Suzuki Wagon R Fourth Generation (2008-2012)

Fourth generation Wagon R was launched in Japan in September 2008 and Stingray sportier, AZ-Wagon and the like AZ Wagon Custom (the last two are manufactured for Mazda). Suzuki in Pakistan (PakSuzuki) is known to start local assembly of Suzuki Wagon R in Pakistan plan from April 2014.

Suzuki Wagon R Fifth Generation (2012-present)

The fifth Suzuki Wagon R range was launched in Japan in September 2012 and for the first time, this now comes with a new mild-hybrid system called “ENE-CHARGE” (short for ‘energy’) and energy, saving electric air conditioning system dubbed the “ECO-COOL” . With the R06A engine combined with an electric motor / generator and lithium-ion battery, this new ENE-CHARGE provides regenerative braking and at least some of the power level to help the internal combustion engine while it can be run electrical equipment. Because of this technology, the new Wagon R you can get up to 28.8 km / l in Japan’s JC08 driving cycle (67.8mpg US, 3.5lt / 100 km EU or 81.4mpg UK).

For Mazda version of it, it is no longer bears the “AZ-Wagon” nomenclature for the fifth Wagon R models are rebadged as the Mazda Flair while the fifth Wagon R Stingray model rebadged as the Mazda Flair Custom Style.Both the Flair and Flair Custom Style was launched in October 2012.

Suzuki Wagon R (International)

The Hungarian-built Suzuki Wagon R + is still being produced for the European market (Wagon R Solio and Solio are sold), albeit with limited range and availability (it is no longer for sale in Ireland, for example). As of 2006 the UK, only one model available – the GL, with a 1.3 liter (1289 cc) 16-valve 4-cylinder petrol engine delivering 59 kW (80 PS; 79 hp), ABS and brakes with air conditioning as options. The current model 3,540 mm (139.4 in) x 1,620 mm (63.8 in) x 1.695 mm (66.7 in) (length and width xx height), with a claimed 597 liters (cu 21.1 ft) of cargo space.

In 2000 until 2007, the Wagon R + is rebadged as the Opel Agila. The Agila was built at Opel factory in Gliwice, Poland and used Opel Engines and transmissions. The new Agila Splash rebadged. In Europe and elsewhere, the Solio has been replaced by the Splash at the end of 2008.

In Indonesia, the car is called the Suzuki Karimun offered by cc (until 2006) 1000 and 1100 cc (2007 onwards) petrol engine, while in China the foundation of both Changhe-Suzuki Big Dipper (Beidouxing) and Changhe- Suzuki F-MPV. The Big Dipper is available with indigenously built 1.0 based on old F10A, or modern 1.4 liter K14B engine. In some Latin American regions such as Colombia, the Suzuki Wagon R + sold under the General Motors Chevrolet marque.
