Land Rover Discovery Sport Conception
The Land Rover Discovery Sport represents the third generation of the compact SUV produced by Land Rover. The first generation, Land Rover Freelander, was introduced by the Land Rover in 1997, following a study that revealed the need for SUV market is small Discovery and Range Rover models. The original Freelander was developed at a time when the Land Rover formed part of the Rover Group, and used engines, the transmissions and other components from other Rover Group and BMW models, including K-series petrol engines and L-Series diesel engines. The BMW M47 diesel instead of the L-Series diesel in 2001, following its adaptation to suit applications transverse and off-road use.
The Freelander 2 model (sold as the LR2 in North America) was introduced in 2006, during the Ford ownership of Land Rover. The second generation Freelander was built on the Ford platform UCD, using Ford Duratorq four-cylinder diesel engine, and at the beginning, the Volvo B6324S six cylinder petrol engine. The six cylinder petrol engine was changed for the 2013 model year by a more economical Ford EcoBoost four cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine. The petrol Ford and diesel four-cylinder engines will be on the first year Discovery Sport model.
The Land Rover Discovery sub-brand was introduced in early 2014, the guarantee in place for the second generation Land Rover Freelander would be a sign as Discovery Sport around the world. The design guidance Discovery was the first family at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, and Land Rover Discovery show their Vision concept car. The sub-brand will be used in the same way as the Range Rover, but will be used on leisure and family orientated models, and Range Rover models focus on the luxury part of the market. Expected availability of the brand to expand to include three models, a SUV full, a compact SUV and SUV sub-compact or crossover.
Stocks Discovery Sport several design cues and Discovery Vision idea, although the concept car near the size of the current Discovery model. The Land Rover Discovery Sport went on sale in September 2014, and the first deliveries are expected in early 2015

The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be powered by the same engine range that features the outgoing Freelander 2 model for the first model year, the Ford EcoBoost four-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 243 PS (179 kW, 240 hp) (engine only option for North America) and Ford Duratorq four-cylinder 2.2 liter turbocharged diesel, producing or 150 PS (110 kW, 150 hp) or 190 PS (140 kW, 190 hp) (engine option only in Europe).
The engines are available from Ford will be taken by new Engines Ingenium engine Jaguar Land Rover’s start by the end of 2015. The Ingenium different family Modular four-cylinder turbocharged engines of 2.0 liter capacity, built around individuals 500cc cylinders. The family is produced both petrol and diesel variants, and could also be produced 3, 5 and 6 cylinder options in the future, depending on the building requirements. The range was designed from the beginning to accommodate a hybrid variety of power, and it is expected that there will be plug-in hybrid variant.
Ingenium range of engine can be configured to deliver different results, and are expected to be the most fuel efficient Discovery Sport eD4 model will be powered by a 150 PS (110 kW, 150 hp) 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel in a front wheel drive configuration only. The model is planned to CO2 emissions of 119 g / km and fuel economy up to 24.2 km / L (68 mpg-imp, 57 mpg-US). The engines in the Land Rover Discovery Sport mounted transversely, which creates more space inside.

The Land Rover Driveline Active system manufactured by GKN Driveline and reduces parasitic loss by 75% compared to the Haldex system in an effort to expand the economy and reduce CO2 emissions. The Active Driveline system works by disconnecting all the major parts of the all wheel drive from the gearbox, rather than at central coupling. The system also features torque vectoring direct power to individual wheels.
No low range transfer box or all wheel drive system, to eliminate this limitation, the ZF 9-HP features very low gear for the first special which is only used if the car off-road or otherwise necessary, because they continue to use the road, the car usually start gear the second.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be available in a two-wheel drive version, this model, the front wheels are driven.
