The model went on to body-on-frame construction, full-time four-wheel drive, the transfer case hi-lo, and a Torsen center locking difference. The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) became the standard. Power came from a new 4.6-liter 1UR-FE V8 engine that produces 224 kW (301 hp) and 446 N · m (329 lb · ft) of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission new. While noting that the SUV met all US federal requirements, Toyota confirmed that its testing had copied the results. On April 19, a voluntary recall Lexus GX 460 was issued, and the left-hand-drive Land Cruiser Prado, for a software update to fix the answer to the VSC. With the update software in the area, sales resumed on April 29. The Wall Street Journal pointed to the lack of VSC decade ago.
