Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry is a sedan and a mid-size assembled by Toyota in Georgetown, Kentucky, Altona, Victoria, woolaware, Sydney Australia, Guangzhou, China and original factory in Toyota City, Japan. In some markets, the top models range Toyota Camry is seen as executive cars. The Toyota Camry has been the best selling car in the United States, its largest market, the largest consumer, because nine out of the last 10 years since 1997, besides being 2001. The Toyota Camry and sells very well in Australia, Canada and a number of Asian markets, especially Cambodia where most cars are Camrys. It has been sold and Europe, and Japan, many criticize its design as ill-suited for European and Japanese tastes. An luxury version upbranded of the Toyota Camry was sold in Japan as the Toyota Windom until 2006, the related Lexus ES in North America, Asia, and shares Middle East major chassis and drivetrain parts and Toyota Camry.

Toyota Camry Naming and Etymology

The Toyota Camry begins in 1980 with the Toyota Camry Murai. The first model line, called the Toyota Camry was launched in 1982 model year 1983, and classified as a compact car. It is primarily configured as sedan and four-door but at different times and has been available as a hatchback five-door, two-door coupe, and station wagon. Since 1999, a sportier version of the Toyota Camry, the Solar, available as a coupe and convertible. There are rumors of current that solar will be taken in 2009, a new sports coupe based on the Toyota Camry layout.

The Toyota Camry underwent major redesigns improve the model years 1987, 1992 (1990 in Japan), 1997, 2002 and most recently in 2007. Without the original Murai Camry, Toyota Camry has been FF layout vehicle. This means transversely mounted engine driving the front wheels. Some models have been offered with all-wheel drive.

The Camrys second and third-generation rebadged sold as the Holden Apollo in Australia. The equivalents in Holden’s success came from the same factory as the Toyota Camry. Since 2000, Daihatsu has sold a twin Camry called Eltis. The name “Camry” comes from the Japanese phonetic writing of the word kanmuri (?, ??), Means “crown”, as the names of the Toyota Crown and Toyota Corona. Significant and that the name “Camry” is an anagram for “my car.”

Toyota Camry Market Position

The Toyota Camry is consistently ranked as one of the most popular vehicles North American markets. It is the “bread-and-butter” Toyota car, so its marketing and sales strategy is cautious, aimed squarely at the center of consumer demographics, as most Camry buyers are not car enthusiasts. The Toyota Camry well below the flagship car Toyota, Avalon and the Lexus ES its two major markets, Australia and North America. It is considered a sub-luxury mid-size sedan. The Toyota Camry is rarely optioned above the Avalon or ES 330, but the Corolla equipped slightly overlaps with the Camry model.

The Toyota Camry was popular in Europe, where the design was bland and incompatible with European driving habits. Toyota the Toyota Camry as a BMW 5 Series, but had no CACHET competition. After poor sales, the Camry was withdrawn from Europe in 2004, leaving the small Avensis, British-built as the top-of-the-line sedan. For there is no station wagon version for the fifth generation Toyota Camry, Toyota Camry Sedan and Avensis station wagon are sold side by side in markets like New Zealand.

After the introduction of the fourth Toyota Camry, sales in Japan dipped. Prior to the fourth generation, Toyota changed the design Camry’s suit Japanese tax laws and the needs of the domestic market. These versions of the Toyota Camry is said to be bounded by certain dimensions which would otherwise be inconvenient for export markets. These models modified for Japan were the Vista, which became separate from the Toyota Camry in 2000.

For the fourth generation Toyota Camry, Toyota decided to split the Vista from the Camry. Both models share a lot of parts, but the division of the fourth was more important than the last through the elements. Although Vista and according to the domestic tax laws of the vehicle, the Toyota Camry (now known as the Camry Gracia) was similar to those foreign markets. This put the Toyota Camry at a disadvantage as it was at the higher end of the tax, which included vehicles such as Crown and Risto, both aimed at the market of higher-end of the Toyota Camry. Possible launch of the A32-series Nissan Cefiro in 1994 prompted Toyota to change its strategy, despite poor sales staff, basically the rest-of-the-world third-generation Toyota Camry, which was sold between 1992-1994 (4,885 units sold). Continued success of the Nissan Cefiro (behind Nissan Teana) meant that some customers were willing to pay extra tax for larger family car, so the marketing plan continued.

As of 2005, the Toyota Camry is produced at Toyota plants in Japan, Australia, and Georgetown, Kentucky, USA, and CKD assembly operations in Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand. It is also assembled from CKD kits at Toyota’s local partners in Malaysia and Taiwan. The Toyota Camry was imported into China as Toyota Jiamei 2006 to 2005, a new method rests on Australian-designed Toyota Aurion was assembled locally and marketed as the Toyota Camry. Since May 2006, the Toyota Camry global will also be in China’s Guangzhou Toyota Motor Company, and since December 2007, and will be produced Petersburg, Russia. Toyota will open a Toyota Camry engine assembly plant in 2008, the City of honoring, Indiana.

Toyota Camry Current Competition

The Camry competitor’s are used, the Honda Accord, is often described as sportier and has been equipped with a few options that focuses more. However, the Camry has been dimensionally larger than the Accord. It gave an optional V6 engine model, and Accord models did not even V6 option until 1995. North American sales figures for the Accord and Camry are generally the same, with the Toyota Camry outselling the Treaty every year since 1998, except 2001. Many of the competitive Camry country have been in decline in sales – such as in the case of the Ford Taurus, the best selling car in the US before 1997.

Recent Comparisons have placed the Toyota Camry against the Saturn Aura, Subaru Legacy, Hyundai Sonata, Nissan Ultima, Mitsubishi Galant, the Mazda6, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Malibu, and although the Camry is not a clear winner on the standard options, its reputation for reliability finally get its best on the prize purchased a solid car.

In many parts of Asia, the Toyota Camry remains competitive against the Honda Accord, with the exception of China and Japan. In China, both the Nissan Teana and Honda Accord (two main competitors Camry’s) are produced locally, and, until recently, had a profit against the Toyota Camry countries, as locally produced Toyota Camry was not until May 2006. In Japan, its only competitor is the Nissan Cefiro (behind, Nissan Teana), but Nissan consistently outsells Toyota in this part of the market.

In Australasia, the Toyota Camry sells well in comparison to the top-selling family cars, the Ford Falcon and General Motors’ Commodore Holden. In Europe, the success of the Camry’s always seemed too limited due to size (which put it in competition with the Opel / Vauxhall Omega and Ford Scorpio) compared to European-developed Carina E and Avensis. After model year 2006, the Camry will no longer be available in Europe.

Toyota Camry Safety

Both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IHS) information for crash Camry. The third-generation Camry was tested only frontal (NHTSA) and frontal offset (IHS) crashes. NHTSA gave the car the two stars for the driver, porch climber, depending on the year. The IHS general it points to the poor, and three out of six categories listed acceptable and three others to the margins. The sixth model generation Toyota Camry received a four-star safety rating for the Australasian Program New Car Assessment (NCAP) testing.
